Goodness! What I have been doing??? Certainly not posting. And, I have no good reason. As I said I would I read The Hunger Games trilogy last weekend. It was awesome. I'm so glad that this popular "Young Adult" series was actually good. Unlike Twilight, and it's surely regrettable sequels. Don't hate on me, but Twilight was horrible. I read it. I hated it. I did not read any sequels. I am a complete bibliophile so I feel confident when I say that it was horrible. I mean it's great if it got someone to read and all, but really. Why do adult women freak out over the story??? I think that these are the lamest vampires ever. They "sparkle." REALLY? WTH??
If you want a good vampire story read Sunshine by Robin McKinley. Read the Southern Vampire Mysteries, aka Sookie Stackhouse. Read Anne Rice. Watch Buffy,by god. DO NOT read that crap.
OK. Rant over. But, really Hunger Games was really good. At first I was a little upset with which guy Katniss chose at the end, but after thinking about it more, I got it. The other just wouldn't have worked out. I'm just surprised that she wasn't completely nuts after everything she went through, I mean she's just, what, sixteen or seventeen by the end?
Anyhow...what else? Hubs and I went to see Wicked last weekend. It was AMAZING.
The show was in Birmingham for the last few weeks and after Hubs' aunt (Thanks, Charlotte!) told us how good it was, we bought our tickets. The show we saw was the last one for our area, and I am so glad we took that good advice. It was fantastic. Really.
I bought the soundtrack from iTunes after seeing it,and not to hate on the original cast but Hubs and I think that the performers we saw were better than the originals. Maybe it was just the excitement of seeing it live or that since they were the first performers we heard do most of the songs but we liked them more! (The soundtrack is great, but I think it's a first impressions type of thing.)
Other than that, we've been remaking our flowerbeds which were kind of destroyed by our storm damages and resulting repairs last year. I'm really pleased with how they turned out. I'll try to post a pic later. Hubs mowed the lawn today. For the second time this year. Yes. It's only March. He also mowed once in February. It just didn't get cold this year so our grass never really died.
